God loves you MORE than He loves His commands. This does not make His commands obsolete or optional. The point of the commands were to help us, not hurt us.

Maybe you had a parent and you didn't meet your parent's expectations. You didn't get the right grades, choose the right spouse or career, or you somehow just didn't measure up. And, from what could be your parent's response, you seem to feel less loved.

God is different. He made us. He knows we are fallen and loves us regardless. Think about it: Jesus died for humanity, setting eternal life on the table for us as a gift. His payment for sins is not tied to anything, including our response or lack thereof, except His love.
